1. Enable HTML5 mode by adding HTML5MODE:true to the Big Dash code.

<script>var GATEKEEPER={INSTANCEID:"<<INSTANCE_ID>>",APPEND:"bigdash-wrapper", HTML5MODE:true };</script>

2. Add required base tag for HTML5MODE

One way to this is to add this code just before the Big Dash code.

<script type="text/javascript">document.write("<base href='/community/' />");</script>

Note: The base tag should point to your page where you integrated the Big Dash code. (For example: In our Integration guide we used "community" for our page name)

Your code should now look similar to this:

<script type="text/javascript">document.write("<base href='/community/' />");</script>
<script>var GATEKEEPER={INSTANCEID:"<<INSTANCE_ID>>",APPEND:"bigdash-wrapper", HTML5MODE:true };</script>

3. Open the appearance editor in the Wordpress admin

4. Open the Theme functions.php file on the right side of your screen

5. Make a backup of the content in the editor on your computer.

In case anything goes wrong. You can revert to your backup.

6. Find a function which ends on _setup().

This function is called when your Theme is loaded for the first time.

7. Add the following rewrite rule just below the function name.

Replace "community" with the name of the page in Wordpress where Big Dash is integrated.

add_rewrite_rule('^community/.*', 'index.php?pagename=community', 'top');

   for example:

function bulan_theme_setup() {
   add_rewrite_rule('^community/.*', 'index.php?pagename=community', 'top');

8. To activate the rewrite you need to reactivate your Wordpress theme once.

You can do this by activating another theme and then activate your original theme.

9. We are almost there. Avoid the trailing slash

Big Dash doesn't work with the extra trailing slash added by Wordpress. To avoid the trailing slash, go to Settings -> Permalinks in the Wordpress admin and set the Common Settings to Custom Structure and remove the trailing slash.

For example:

You should now have pretty URLs for your Big Dash environment!
